Bicycles Demand Analysis Tool

Situation

Bicycle-sharing systems were gaining popularity in cities worldwide as a sustainable transportation solution. However, city planners and operators needed better insights into usage patterns and how external factors like weather impacted demand to optimize services and plan for future expansion.

Task

The goal was to create an easy-to-use web tool that could visualize data from bike stations in multiple cities, showing usage trends and the impact of weather conditions. The tool needed to provide both real-time updates and historical data analysis to help stakeholders make informed decisions.

Action

I built an interactive tool using data from JCDecaux’s bike-sharing system combined with weather data from public APIs. The tool provided visualizations of daily and weekly usage patterns, comparisons across cities, and correlations with weather conditions. Users could explore the data through interactive charts and check the real-time status of each station, including the availability of bikes and stands.

Result

The tool became an essential resource for city planners, helping them understand bike-sharing patterns and optimize station placements. It also allowed operators to adjust their services based on demand, weather forecasts, and historical trends, improving the overall efficiency and user experience of the bike-sharing network.
